Meet Our Team
Dr. Eric Stone
Veterinarian
Dr. Stone has been with the Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic since 1993 and now serves as its Medical Director. Having grown up in Minnesota, he attended the University Of Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Stone splits his time between our Cumberland office and our Shell Lake office. He has a special interest in surgery, dentistry, and preventive care. He especially enjoys working with pets’ families and keenly values the bond we have with our pets.
Dr. Stone has three grown children and is recently married to his wife Bonnie. Together they are parents to 4 dogs and 4 cats (A Brady Bunch type group). He enjoys cooking and grilling, outdoor activities and traveling. He is fortunate to be able to travel with his dog Trevor, his wife Bonnie, and sometimes both.
Dr. Sarah Horak-Paulson
Veterinarian
Dr. Horak has been with our clinic since she graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She has a special interest in feline medicine, ultrasound, and routine preventive care. Outside of work, Dr. Horak enjoys spending time outdoors and with family. She is a mother of two kids, two dogs, two cats and 11 chickens.
Dr. Jill Armstrong
Veterinarian
Dr. Jill Armstrong is a 1989 graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison. She joined our clinic in 2022. Dr. Armstrong enjoys surgery as well as preventative health care. She and her husband Dr. Jeff Bohn- also a veterinarian live in Amery on a beef farm along with 2 well-loved house cats and 2 dogs- Finn a French Bulldog and Pancake a Goldendoodle. They have 2 sons- Joshua and Joseph both currently in college. In her spare time she can be found exploring nature and enjoying her photography hobby. Also she enjoys kayaking, paddleboarding and gardening.
Dr. Nele Leiterman
Veterinarian
Dr. Nele Leiterman grew up in Minden, Germany, and attended JLU Giessen, Germany. She has special interests in ultrasound diagnostics, dentistry, surgery and poultry. Outside of work, she enjoys helping her local community and spending time with her partner, Dr. Ryan Leiterman.
Krissy Sellent
Certified Veterinary Technician
Krissy is a certified veterinary technician with 25 years of experience. She has worked at our clinic since 2000. She has 3 children with her husband Brent. Away from work you can catch her at any school sporting events, out on the lake, or cuddling with her two cats.
Kiersten Lumby
Receptionist
Kiersten has been a receptionist with the Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic since 2008, mostly in our Shell Lake office. She shares her home with her Border Collie Cullen, as well as her two cats Flora and Fauna. She enjoys knitting, crocheting, reading, and spending time with children and grandchildren.
Brittney Grilley
Hospital Manager and Certified Veterinary Technician
Brittney joined our team in 2009 as a Certified Veterinary Technician. She enjoys assisting with surgeries and urgent care. Since starting with NLVC, Brittney has taken over many Hospital Manager roles. Brittney and her husband Rory have two kids, a daughter and son that are teaching them to be parents. Their house is also occupied by a senior black lab, a young cat, and fish (Brittney wishes they had pet shrimp, but the fish won't allow it). Outside of work, Brittney enjoys gardening and camping.
Lori Robotti
Receptionist
Lori joined our team of receptionists in 2018 and has over 15 years of experience working in the veterinary field. She lives in Shell Lake with her husband and 2 kids on a hobby farm with beef cows and chickens. Her home is shared with Axle the Shih Tzu, Sylvie the French bulldog, Harper the Persian cat and house cat Zach. Lori kids keep her busy with School sports, FFA and 4-H. She also enjoys baking, camping, and just spending time with her kids.
Dawn Franson
Vet Assistant
Dawn is our most experienced veterinary assistant, having been in this role for 25 years, and with our clinic since 2019. She started at the Humane Society of Barron County and continued to volunteer there after over 6 years of working there. She shares her home with her husband Mike, as well as Orbit, Chuck, and Radar the rescue kitties. She enjoys reading, spending time in her flower beds, and babysitting her grandson.
Dani Howell
Vet Assistant
Dani moved to Cumberland and started working here in 2019. She grew up on a hobby farm, has worked many animal related jobs and has found it to be her life’s passion. At home, Dani and her husband Jonathan are slowly working on their own menagerie. You'll likely find her in her garden in the summer or with a book and a cup of tea in the winter. Of course her cats Pesto, Perch, and Clem or her Border Collie Oliver are always nearby
Paige Sirek-Emerson
Receptionist
Paige joined our team of receptionists in 2021 and is originally from Rice Lake where she graduated from the University of Wisconsin Barron County with an Associate’s Degree. She has 2 rescued dogs; Shadow (blue heeler/American bulldog) and Maddie (American Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever), and special need/rescue cats; Sweetie, Mandy, Ebony, Daffodil.
Amber Huskinson
Certified Veterinary Technician
Amber joined our clinic as a certified veterinary technician in 2022. She grew up in Frederic and spent 10 years in the U.S. Army, deployed initially as a helicopter fueler, then after her second deployment she worked in a biological research facility. In civilian life, Amber worked as a veterinary assistant while earning her associates degree in Veterinary Technology in 2018. Amber and her son have 2 dogs and 2 cats. When she’s not at work, she enjoys reading, hiking, camping, sewing, and gardening.
Kennedy Robinson-Lee
Vet Assistant
Kennedy joined our clinic in 2022 and grew up with farm animals and hunting dogs. She enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She shares her home with animals of all shapes and sizes, and since 2023 shares her love of animals with her baby girl.
Katelynn Shankey
Vet Assistant
Katelynn joined our clinic in 2023 with previous experience working at a dairy goat farm and an animal shelter. She came to the Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic in her pursuit of a career with animals with plans to continue that journey by training to be a certified veterinary technician. Away from work she keeps busy with her two dogs, two cats, goats, and chickens. She loves spending time outdoors fishing, kayaking, gardening, and playing with her pets.
Mikayla Albers
Vet Assistant
Mikayla has been with our clinic since 2022. She is in her last semester of school to become a veterinary technician and has learned many things while working at the Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic. She loves learning and lending a hand to people and their pets. At home she loves her four-legged children Buddy, Jager, Ellie May, and Mowgli. She enjoys time outdoors hiking with her dogs, and indoors watching sports games with friends and family.
Tenley Hofer
Vet Assistant
Tenley joined our clinic in 2023. After working as a dairy farm hand and in the human medicine field, she realized that her passion was veterinary medicine. Outside of work she spends her free time at home with her Boxer mix Dutchess and her cat Alvin. She also travels throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin to horse shows with her Quarter Horse Iris.
Alyssa Tucker
Receptionist
Allysa became part of our team of receptionists in 2024. She grew up in northern Wisconsin and has been in the veterinary field since 2018, working in clinics in Wisconsin and Illinois. Alyssa enjoys building relationships with clients and their pets and being part of the caring and dedicated team at the Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic. Someday she would like to become a veterinary technician. Although caring for animals is her passion, she also enjoys cooking, exploring the outdoors, and visiting with family and friends. Her rescue cats, Groot and Genji keep her on her toes as they are always finding mischief.
Mersada Nosbush
Vet Assistant
Mersada has been with the Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic working as a veterinary assistant since 2020. She adores animals, and especially cats. At home she has cats, horses, fish, and a dog. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, painting, and spending time with family
